On April 9, 2022, a significant fire occurred at We The Curious, a popular science and arts centre in Bristol. The fire caused extensive damage to the roof and resulted in widespread water damage throughout the building. In the aftermath, BDC Structural Engineering was engaged to provide expert structural advice and oversee the necessary repairs.
BDC Structural Engineering’s tasks included:
- Structural Advice and Repairs: Assessing and addressing the structural integrity of the building following the fire and water damage.
- Floor Repairs: Conducting necessary repairs to floors affected by water and structural damage.
- Designing Structural Support Beams: Designing and installing structural support beams to replace a heat exchanger.
- Internal Alterations for Office Reconfigurations: Providing structural input for reconfiguring office spaces within the building.
